Well,I hope I can be of some help. My wife and I and another couple just got back 2 weeks ago from the Aventura Palace, we had a really good time the property is beautiful ,it was larger than expected they have a huge pool area, the beach is man-made through 2 inlets due to the reefs in front of the hotel and the water being a little rough. The restaurants are very good, they have different theme nights where you can make reservations ahead of time. The only snag we had was with the room, we ended up with no ocean view (construction side) and we had 2 double beds instead of a queen size bed. We were not the only ones with that problem unfortunately, so I would suggest no matter where you book confirm with the hotel directly and get a manager to speak with. Playa del Carmen is nearby and it's a blast nice beaches, Restaurants and lots of shopping. We also went deep-sea fishing out of Puerto Aventuras which is about 5 minutes away,we had a great time and caught some big fish. Good luck in your search.
