Can be driven in a long afternoon. The road's fine. Consider starting out early and spending the morning visiting the various Puuc ruins near Uxmal...while not nearly as impressive as Uxmal, you will probably be the only people there, and the experience is quite worthwhile. If it's been years since you've been to Uxmal, I think you might be surprised at the additional structures that are being restored. One disappintment though: I was there in February and the pyramid was closed; there was some work being done on the top part and part was covered in plastic. I don't know if when they re-open it if they will let people climb it again (you used to be able to, but as in Chichen Itza every time I go there are more and more structures that are off-limits to climbing).
