You chose the right place. We've been there 4 times so far, and have every intention of returning. I realize everyone has different expectations. The beach area right by the resort is actually best for snorkeling. There is a coral reef right by the resort. There is a swimming beach just a short walk down the beach. White sand going out for as far as you can imagine. What a nice variety and it's all right in your resort area. There are two pools, one with a swim-up bar. Two swing bars located by each pool. Nightly entertainment in the disco club. Most involve much of the audiences participation. The activities group is wonderful. Games and activities going on all day. There is no way to become bored. The food is excellent and plentiful. The main restaurant you order off the menu. I must recomment the coconut shrimp, lobster and their ice cream. My husband could'nt get enough of it. We have recommended the El Dorado to many friends, some have gone with us and others at different times. Every one of them has returned because they enjoyed as much as we did. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and they love to do little extra touches to the room while you are staying. Fresh flowers, Towels decorated as swans on your beds, etc. The list goes on. There are quite a few tours available. The jungle tour is excellent. The mayan ruins are beautiful. The only place we really did not enjoy was Xel-Ha. Only because there were soooo many people and the snorkeling at the resort was better than there. I really could go on and on; however, do not know if I'm giving you the specific information you want. We are in our mid-thirties and still like to "hoop" it up once in a while as well as just relax also. The El Dorado is one resort that we have found that we can do either. Have a wonderful time.
