Transport from Cancun to Akumal

Hola, any ideas on the bus services or other transport to Akumal from Cancun. We want to visit friend who will be staying at the Bahia Principe Tulum. Can this resort be gotten to from the main highway or would it be best to take a cab from Akumal or PDC? Thanks to all that love this part of the world and all the great people that live there.
