We did the Amigos de Sian Ka'an Tour and highly recommend it. The tour guide was a biologist and some of the money you pay for the tour goes towards preserving the Sian Ka'an. The only way to really se the Sian Ka'an is with this tour because you will go on a boat deep into the protected reserve. You can not do that on your own. We did drive in our rental VW Bug following the tour van and the ground clearance of Bugs are actually pretty good compared to other cars. The tour starts at Cabanas Ana&Jose which is a nice little resort with a beautiful beach and a very good restaurant. Have a great time!!!!
