: You are able to take the tour and use your own car. Everyone meets at Ana Joses in Tulum and then you can follow in your own car. It costs a bot more to ride with the guide in his van. However the guide does stop periodically and informs everyone of the various plants, points of interest, etc. If you do not take the tour, you will miss out on a lot. The tour includes a boat ride and it is spectacular. Without a tour you will really see very little as you will not be allowed access to many areas. Be aware though, the road is not great! We went all the way to Punta Allen a few weeks ago and it was the longest trip I've ever taken! The pot holes will swallow you up! Have a great time, you'll love the tour.

A friend told me to go there with a car with good clearance (like a 4 wheeler) so I'm not sure a Monza will cut it.....
