got your great map (the check is the mail, honestly)...but in Playa del Carmen you
only highlighted in yellow one hotel (the blue parrot)...any chance of doing a book or
booklet that rates hotels??? sort of like a AAA tour book of the Mayian Riveria. my
wife and i went to Cancun in 1992 and drove down to tulum and xel-ha and drove
past playa del carmen...i thought it looked like a great small place to visit next time
we went to mexico...it is many years later and i know it has probably changed a
great deal but i still want to go. this time it will be with my wife and two daughters
(11 and 10). we plan to go around christmas 2000 or easter 2001. been checking
out the web boards(yes i like to prepare well ahead of time) and decided against an
all-inclusive (it would be nice in many ways, but i want to see the city and restaurants
at night...plus, one of the benefits of a trip to mexico is it should be (hopefully)
inexpensive). i would, if you have the time, like your thoughts on:

Hotel Pelicano--no pool, but on the beach and cheap
Mimi de Mar--pool and on the beach, slightly more $
Riviera del Sol Hotel--pool, but not on beach, cheap
Villa Amanecer--pool, not on beach, cheap
Hotel Tierra Maya--pool, not on beach, cheap
El Faro--pool and on beach, more $$
Hotel Colibri--don't know much about this one, good word of mouth

cheap= anything under a hundred a night for the four of us.
having a pool is always a plus, but will the children use it with the beach right there??

see, if you do the tour book with hotel listings and ratings you could save yourself from being bugged by people
like me....thanks gavin
